A plan's been lodged to turn an old city bank into a new restaurant, with 12 apartments also earmarked to go above it.

Someone's lodged an application to turn the old Bank of Ireland on Bridge St into a new cafe/restaurant on the ground floors with another unit being changed into one and two-bedroom accommodation.

The council has granted permission for over 70 new homes and a creche at a site in Cobh.

Last week planning bosses gave the green light for a new development at Inis Alainn in the Carrignafoy area above the town.

PLANS for 70 residential units and 54 car parking space in Walkinstown, have been approved by Dublin City Council.

Canmar Properties Limited submitted plans last November for a development at a site bounded and accessed by both Walkinstown Road and Balfe Road.

Cork County Council had granted permission to Wayleaf Ltd for the development at Inis Alainn, Carrignafoy, Cobh, but several third-party appeals were lodged against this decision.

The scheme includes some 71 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes on a 2.55ha site located in the northeastern suburbs of Cobh town, around 1km from the town centre.

A joyful press release came in from the architects Douglas Wallace announcing that Dublin City Council had granted planning permission “with no appeal” for Orr’s Terrace, “a new urban mews lane scheme” described, in a quote from project architect Hugh Wallace, as “a wonderful ‘hideaway’ development”, inspired by “the mews lanes of London’s Knightsbridge and Chelsea”.
